Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
