Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
