Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
