Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the break of Day 1 and the ten nights! 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 Consider the night as it runs its course! 4 Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? 5 Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Ad 6 of the columned (city) of Iram, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 And with Firaun, who used to crucify. 10 Those who rebelled in the cities, 11 And multiplied iniquity therein? 12 and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: 13 Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of your Lord. 14 So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied. 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 And when the command of your Lord comes and the angels row by row, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! 28 So enter among My (righteous) servants 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
