The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 in which you are now living 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 of an orphaned relative 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20

God the Almighty always says the truth.
