Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 But he could not scale the steep ascent. 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 of an orphaned relative 15 Or a needy person in misery 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
