Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness this land 1 And thou art an indweller of this city - 2 and I swear by the parent and his offspring: 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
