Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 Verily, We have created man into [a life of] pain, toil and trial. 4 Deemest he that none will overpower him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 to an orphaned relative 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 These are the fellows of the righthand. 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
