Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 this land in which thou art free to dwell 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 and downtrodden destitute person, (so that he would be of) 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
