The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
