The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
