The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
