The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its brightness 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
