Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day in splendour 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
