Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
