The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who belied and turned away, 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
