The Night (Al-Layl)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
