The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
