The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
