The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day resplendent 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
