The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
