The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And rejects the best, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
