The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
