The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
