Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
