The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and he belied the finest 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
