The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
