The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And the day resplendent 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
