The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
