(Muhammad), remember the morning when you left home to show the believers their position in the battle? God is All-hearing and All-knowing. 121 And recall when two groups from among you were inclined to flag although Allah was their protector; it is in Allah that the believers should put their trust. 122 for, indeed, God did succour you at Badr, when you were utterly weak. Remain, then, conscious of God, so that you might have cause to be grateful. 123 When thou didst say unto the believers: Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should support you with three thousand angels sent down (to your help)? 124 If you remain patient and God-fearing, and the enemy should fall upon you all of a sudden, Your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels clearly marked!" 125 And God ordained this [to be said by His Apostle] only as a glad tiding for you, and that your hearts should thereby be set at rest - since no succour can come from any save God, the Almighty, the Truly Wise 126 And that He might cut off a part of those who disbelieve or suppress them, so that they will turn back, disappointed. 127 Not with thee is aught of the affair: He shall either relent toward them or torment them, for verily they are wrong-doers. 128 And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah's; He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He pleases; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 129
