And when you did go forth early in the morning from your family to lodge the believers in encampments for war and Allah is Hearing, Knowing. 121 And recall when two groups from among you were inclined to flag although Allah was their protector; it is in Allah that the believers should put their trust. 122 And Allah did certainly assist you at Badr when you were weak; be careful of (your duty to) Allah then, that you may give thanks. 123 [And remember] when you said to the believers, "Does it not suffice that your Lord helps you by sending down three thousand angels? 124 Nay, but if ye persevere, and keep from evil, and (the enemy) attack you suddenly, your Lord will help you with five thousand angels sweeping on. 125 Allah made it not but as a message of good news for you and as an assurance to your hearts. And there is no victory except from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 126 (They are sent) to break the power of the unbelievers or disgrace them and make them return after having lost all hope." 127 Not for you, [O Muhammad, but for Allah], is the decision whether He should [cut them down] or forgive them or punish them, for indeed, they are wrongdoers. 128 Whatever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. He forgives whom He wills, and chastises whom He wills: Allah is indeed All-Forgiving, Most-Compassionate. 129
