The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What is your opinion if he were upon guidance, 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
