The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
