The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
