The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
