The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
