The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
