The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
