The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
