The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
