The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
