In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
