The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
