The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
