The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
