The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
