The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
