The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
