The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
