The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
